Liz Milkau has built a reputation for beautifully capturing likeness, especially in children, throughout her ten-year career as a working artist. She is well known in the publishing industry for her delicate use of linework and muted watercolour washes that tenderly evoke the emotion and mood of the subject.
A graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design and the International Summer School of Animation at Sheridan College, Liz's work has been featured in children's picture books, textbooks, periodicals and in private homes throughout Canada and the U.S.

To create your custom portrait Liz uses traditional techniques incorporating graphite drawing and watercolour painting on archival paper. As well, aquarelle and gouache are often added to create specific effects.
As long sittings are impractical, Liz creates her delicate and detailed portraits from photos she takes herself in a setting of the client's choosing. This often takes no more than an hour or two but ensures ample material to work from and presents an opportunity for Liz to observe her subject in a setting they find comfortable. In a case where the subject is not available, i.e: a posthumous portrait or a surprise gift, Liz will work from photos provided by the client.
